The Holy Quran (Al-Furqaan)
Quran is the message of Allah (s.w.t), reached us in the forms of revelations on Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). It is the source of guidance for anyone who seeks guidance, with the condition of “Taqwa.”
Allah (s.w.t) calls it “furqaan,” which means criterion between right and wrong. So it shows the path of righteousness by separating good from bad.
Importance of Reading Quran
The majesty of Quran and the great virtues for reading and following it are unprecedented in its way. Quran raises the status of those believers who read it, follow the commands and make this divine message part and parcel of their lives. The glorious Quran will be an intercessor for those Muslims who recite it.
When to recite the Glorious Quran
To get the maximum reward and benefit from Quran recitation, it is essential to know the best timings to read it. The source of such knowledge should strictly be from Quran and Sunnah. Tilawat til Quran is at all times under all conditions with the condition of tuhur i.e. purification.
For daily recitation, it is recommended to perform this blessed activity at dawn. Still, it is not the only time, when the Quran recitation is especially recommended. Also, it is not a fard (obligation) to read Quran only at that point.
So you can read Quran at any time of the day as per your convenience. The above verse tells us that reciting the Quran at any time is also observed and noticed and not just at dawn. As per Shariah, all our actions are continuously witnessed. It is better to recite Quran at dawn time to get more benefit as our minds are at maximum receptivity at that time. Also, there is no noise and distractions during that period. So we can conveniently learn and meditate on the meaning of Quran.
As a general rule, you should read Quran when you can be consistent in reading it daily and have the best presence of heart, which in most cases is the time after Fajr prayers. Another recommended time is Qiyaam Al-Layl (Night prayers before Fajr).
There is no specified time mentioned in Shariah with more reward and credit for reading Quran. But there are some recommended instances indicated in the Islamic sources which should be followed to get the maximum benefit of this blessed spiritual ritual.
